Wainui Farm, owned by Nick and Jeannie Larkin, is located in Lexington Kentucky.
We participate in several equestrian disciplines with additional horse experience in thoroughbred racing, steeplechasing, and breeding.
Nick’s competition record includes winning the inaugural Adelaide International Horse Trials and the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event and riding for the New Zealand Equestrian Team in Australia and at the World Equestrian Games in Italy.
Besides our large herd of OTTBs, Wainui Farm is home to a fun group of rescue dogs, some cats that have found us, and a few elderly pigs.
Cellusana makes skin care products that renew damaged tissue and provide younger-looking, healthy skin. Visit the link below to learn more.
We’ve had fed 20+ horses on our horse farm for over two decades. Our horses get ample turn-out and were all in good shape, including several picky-eaters and five in their mid to late twenties when we heard about Keyflow. The reason we wanted to give KeyFlow a try was the nutrient density of the feed, meaning we wouldn’t have to feed such big quantities each day to some horses. We have always preferred sugar-free feeds, but sometimes it can be difficult to get the necessary calories or volume in without a ‘sweetener’.
After very slowly switching over, we really did appreciate how much less we had to feed and how good everyone is looking and feeling. The finickiest are cleaning their bowls. We also noticed some minor fussiness when grooming had gone away on one horse, and we found healthier manure when cleaning stalls. We suspect we have some happier GIs. Other than natural pasture fluctuations, this has been a controlled experiment and we are seeing benefits from the micronutrients and easier digestion of KeyFlow feeds.
We love the consistency after soaking and being able to mix in electrolytes with nothing sifted out or left behind in their bowls. Recently, we fed the Pink Mash to all of the horses when they all had to come in the barn to wait out a storm. Everyone licked their bowls clean and we liked that their stomachs were protected from the potential stress from the bad weather.
It’s a super simple, easy system and we are happy we switched. We feed Nuture, Sensi-Care, Pink Mash, and the Key 3 oil. We’ve already been recommending KeyFlow to others and suggesting they consider trying it themselves.
